Each year at its Annual Meeting, Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) recognizes projects that demonstrate exceptional quality in asphalt pavement construction. These awards represent a diverse spectrum of pavement types from Ohio's interstate system with some of the highest traffic volumes in the nation, to low volume rural roadways, to airport runways, and commercial facilities.
Quarry Lakes business park in Sandusky. Erie Blacktop contructed this project for Jack Farschman, the Erie County Engineer. This project called for the new construction of a deep-strength asphalt pavement. 6 ½ inches of Big rock 302 asphalt base was used, followed by 3 inches of intermediate course mix, and topped off by an inch and a half of Type 1 material. In all, over eleven thousand tons of hot mix were used. Quality assurance testing followed ODOT procedures.
