For Immediate Release: December 23, 2014 Flexible Pavements of Ohio has added a searchable, map-based directory of asphalt paving contractors to the association's webpage. Named the “Asphalt Contractors List,” this directory is as a tool for pavement owners, designers and general contractors to find quality asphalt paving companies in the state of Ohio. The Asphalt Contractors List displays all FPO member contractors in the state and allows users to easily search for asphalt paving contractors by city or zip code. Each entry in the Pavers List contains contact information for each company as well as a listing of Quality Asphalt Paving Awards received in the previous five year period as an indicator of quality performance. For Immediate Release: December 1, 2014 Applications are now being accepted for Flexible Pavements of Ohio’s (FPO) Asphalt Scholarship Program for the 2015-2016 academic year. Undergraduate and graduate civil engineering and construction management students at participating Ohio universities are eligible to apply with qualifying coursework in asphalt pavement technology. The application period is from December 1, 2014 to January 30, 2015. Interested applicants should visit FPO’s webpage for complete information on program eligibility and to apply for this scholarship.

For Immediate Release: September 2, 2014 Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Quality Asphalt Paving Awards, the Ecological Award, and the Master Craftsman Award. Nominations for the Quality Asphalt Paving Awards are being accepted for work performed during the 2014 construction season. Quality Asphalt Paving Award nominations are being accepted for Ohio Department of Transportation/Ohio Turnpike Projects, Local Roads or Streets, Commercial Parking Facilities, Special Use Pavements and Airport Pavements. The FPO Ecological Award was established to recognize asphalt production facilities that best demonstrate safe and responsible environmental practices. Facilities will be judged on design layout, clean operation, maintenance performance practice, and community awareness activities. The Master Craftsman Award recognizes contractors whose work has stood the test of time. The winner of this award will be acknowledged for a commitment to quality workmanship, exhibited by exemplary pavement performance. The award recipient will be selected from pavements with an existing surface course having given acceptable service for 15-years or more and continues to provide exceptional service. For Immediate Release: June 23, 2014 The Asphalt Expo is Ohio’s premiere asphalt pavement event with multiple concurrent educational sessions and an indoor and outdoor trade show and exhibition. Organized by Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO), the Ohio Asphalt Expo provides pavement owners, public works professionals, contractors and pavement designers with information on state-of-the art industry practices and technologies to ensure successful, long-lasting asphalt pavements. The educational presentations at the Ohio Asphalt Expo are provided by speakers who are highly accomplished in their fields of expertise and are recognized as knowledgeable industry leaders. FPO is currently seeking presentation proposals for the 2015 Ohio Asphalt Expo scheduled for March 3-4, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. Presentations may be submitted for one of three thematic tracks: Asphalt Plant Operations, Asphalt Paving Operations & Equipment, and Regulatory & Governmental Policy. All presentations should logically fit within one of the Expo themes, be topical in nature, and not be direct marketing for a specific company product or service. For Immediate Release: April 1, 2014 Flexible Pavements of Ohio recently recognized excellence in asphalt construction by presenting the prestigious Quality Asphalt Paving Awards for work performed during the 2013 calendar year. The paving contractors and project owners received their awards on Wednesday, March 25, at a ceremony during the 2014 Ohio Asphalt Expo in Columbus. Forty-six projects were recognized in 2013 as representing the highest quality in asphalt paving. These projects represent a diverse spectrum of pavement types from Ohio’s interstate system with some of the highest traffic volumes in the nation, to low volume rural roadways, to airport runways, and commercial facilities. For Immediate Release: March 3, 2014 The Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference (OTEC) has been scheduled for October 28-29, 2014, at the Columbus Convention Center. OTEC is a two-day event attended by more than 3,000 transportation professionals from throughout the nation. OTEC is co-sponsored by the Ohio Department of Transportation and The Ohio State University, and the conference is organized to provide something for everyone interested in Ohio’s transportation industry. The OTEC Steering Committee has issued a call for abstracts for the 2014 conference. Abstracts will be accepted from March 3 to April 4, 2014. For Immediate Release: February 4, 2014 Despite threats of cold and icy weather the Ohio Asphalt Paving Conference is proceeding as scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the Fawcett Center located at the Ohio State University. The conference will only be canceled in the event the Fawcett Center is closed. The conference committee has contacted the Fawcett Center and has been assured the facility intends to remain open and will only close if Franklin Co. is under a Level 3 Snow Emergency which would restrict roadway travel to emergency personnel.
