The Ohio Asphalt Paving Conference is a collaborative effort of state and local government, academia and the asphalt industry to present practical, usable technologies and strategies for the design and construction of asphalt pavements. The 2022 OAPC is offered as either an in-person or virtual event. Please select your participation preference during registration. For Immediate Release: November 18, 2021 Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) is pleased to announce its asphalt scholarship program for the 2022-23 academic year. The period for submitting on-line applications will be open from Wednesday, December 1, 2021 through Monday, January 31, 2022. Undergraduate and graduate civil engineering and construction management students at participating Ohio universities are eligible to apply with qualifying coursework in asphalt pavement technology. Interested applicants should visit FPO’s scholarship webpage for complete information on program eligibility and to apply for this scholarship.

Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) is accepting nominations for the 2021 Quality Asphalt Paving Awards, the Ecological Award, and the Master Craftsman Award. Nominations for the Quality Asphalt Paving Awards are being accepted for work performed during the 2021 construction season. Quality Asphalt Paving Award nominations are being accepted for Ohio Department of Transportation/Ohio Turnpike Projects, Local Roads or Streets, Commercial Parking Facilities, Special Use Pavements and Airport Pavements. The Ecological Award was established to recognize asphalt production facilities that best demonstrate safe and responsible environmental practices. Facilities will be judged on design layout, clean operation, maintenance performance practice, and community awareness activities. The Master Craftsman Award recognizes contractors whose work has stood the test of time. The winner of this award will be acknowledged for a commitment to quality workmanship, exhibited by exemplary pavement performance. The award recipient will be selected from pavements with an existing surface course having given acceptable service for 15-years or more and continues to provide exceptional service. Flexible Pavements of Ohio’s (FPO) Quality Asphalt Paving Awards recognizes asphalt paving contractors and project owners for their appreciation of the value and performance of quality asphalt pavement construction. FPO recognized 64 projects completed during the 2020 construction season. These projects represented a diverse spectrum of pavement uses from high volume interstates to low volume local roads, parking lots and airport runways. Date: May 10 - 14, 2021 Location: Ohio University Lancaster Campus; 1570 Granville Pike; Brasee Hall, Room 414; Lancaster, OH 43130 This course meets the requirements for Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) HT.306, Asphalt Level 3 training. It is designed to give the participants a working knowledge of the principles associated with asphalt concrete volumetric mix design. On the final day of the course, students will have the opportunity to take the ODOT examination for Level 3 Asphalt Concrete Technician approval. Covid Restrictions: Ohio University’s Covid policy requires the following: Class size is limited to a maximum of 25 students. All students must wear facial coverings and remain socially distant while attending the class. All students must submit to a temperature screening and questionnaire prior to the class to be permitted to attend.
