Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) is pleased to present the 2020 Asphalt Plant Monitoring School in a virtual format during a single day of online education. 

This course is designed to advance individuals in their career as an Asphalt Plant Monitor. The course covers all aspects of asphalt plant operations from yard and plant operations, truck load outs, laboratory testing and documentation, plant monitor reports, and more. The class will consist of videos, recorded presentations and lectures. This new training opportunity is an extension of FPO’s strategic plan to ensure quality control technicians and monitors alike have a working knowledge of quality asphalt production. 

Who Should Participate? Government agency engineering and public works professionals tasked with Asphalt Plant Monitoring. Engineering consultants tasked with local and commercial transportation construction management and Plant Monitoring. Asphalt construction contractors and producers.

Professional Development Hours: A maximum of 6 Professional Development Hours will be awarded for completion of the Seminar. Only paid registrants will qualify for Professional Development Hours based on the number of sessions in which an attendee participated.

Date & Time: The virtual seminar has been scheduled for December 3, 2020. The virtual seminar includes one day of online instruction from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Attendees will receive an email with meeting session login information: in advance of the training.

Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) offers this training course to prepare individuals having basic lab familiarity to take the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Level 2 Asphalt Technician Exam. This seminar provides the training required personnel with a minimum two years of experience with asphalt paving operations to become approved to perform the Field Quality Control Supervisor (FQCS) function required under ODOT specifications or to acquire re-approval after five years since the previous training. This session will include training on paving fundamentals and best practices as well as Porous Asphalt Pavement construction to receive an endorsement to construct Porous Asphalt Pavement. Course Content: • Introduction and review of the purpose of the FQCS program and Ethics for QC personnel; • Overview of Quality Control and Quality Assurance • ODOT Asphalt Mixture Overview • Review of FQCS Role in Obtaining Density & Smoothness • Overview of ODOT Specifications for Asphalt Concrete Field Operations • Review of Common Paving/Mat Deficiencies • Design, Materials, Construction and Maintenance of Porous Asphalt Pavements Select the link for course and registration information or register online below.
